As I sip my teh tarik, I look up towards the bright shining moon. It is the 7th of September and it is the day after the full moon. My God, the moon is just gorgeous from down here. Its reflection on the water is simply breathtaking.
I look towards my intern as I put down the cup. She was scrolling some feed on her phone, might be facebook or maybe instagram. I don't know. She was too focused on it, I did not ask.
The moon was so bright that we can actually see its crater. Made me wonder, how can a person not think of what is out there? What is there, beyond these two islands here? There must be more to this world than just turtles and sharks and corals and saltwater. Is there any other island? Wait, there is. The nearest to us is Redang.
Redang trip.
It was August the 6th when we went to Redang for a team trip. It was nice and sunny, although it did rain the night before. It took us an hour to reach Redang from Perhentians and our first stop was the Turtle Beach. We went over to fetch a friend and stop in between to snorkel a bit. It was a nice day to snorkel. Better yet, the turtles over there were too friendly. I remember jumping out of the boat but then, I kinda jump too hard that the snorkel were filled with water and my mask moved a bit. Caught a turtle swimming towards me while fixing my mask. He thought I was there to feed them. No boo, I am just here to visit you.
A colleague of mine once worked in Redang. She did her internship at a Turtle Research Unit Center at a beach called Chagar Hutang. Man, was it dope! The best part about it is there is no line at all over there. You can definitely think about stuffs and life and man, I loved it, every single bit of it.
And there he was. It was then that I met him.
He was tall and very tanned. He has long curly hair, in fact it was afro. It caught me for a while - your hair (I have always have a thing for guys with long and/or curly hair). Didn't know it was a trap though, my bad. I remember he was wearing a black tee, the research unit's official working tee I supposed.
I look at my watch. Still early to go. Glanced at my intern for a while, she was still busy with her phone. Look down towards my foot, there is a cat snuggling me.
Cats, he love cats.
